Paper Mache Glue Recipe
Feb 12th, 2008 by Jane Blogs
Wren and I used this glue to make her first~ever piƱata for her 4th birthday party.
When it was time for the kids to have a bash at it, the d*mn thing was so strong that none of them could break it.
I kinda think we put a few too many layers on there…
Even when the ribbon holding it broke and the thing dropped to the ground, it didn’t break.
We soaked strips of torn~up newspaper in an old ice~cream container filled with this stuff and covered a big balloon with layer after layer after layer of it.
I stuck the ends of a ribbon between the layers to hang it up with, and the last layer was colourful wrapping paper in bright colours.
Once it was all dry we popped the balloon, poked goodies in the hole we’d left at the top and covered it with more layers of paper mache.
Okay, this is a kinda sketchy how~to but you’ll be able to work it all out.
I have faith in you.
You will need:
- Plain flour
- Warm water
What to do:
- Gradually add flour to water while mixing, until you have a thick, slimy consistency.
- If your mixture thickens while you are ‘layering’, just add more warm water.
Other thoughts:
- Try adding some fine glitter or coloured sand to the mix.
!!! I would have given exact proportions, but each time we do paper mache it seems to change! Perhaps it has something to do with the weather….
